South London based recording artist Midas the Jagaban recently dropped her debut MIDAS TOUCH EP, featuring East-London rapper Ramz and South African rapper Sho Madjozi
Breakthrough artist Midas the Jagaban dropped her debut EP ‘Midas Touch’. Quickly becoming one of the most talked-about artists of 2020, the young up and comer fuses both indigenous Afrobeats and UK Afroswing elements, creating a high energy sound that has captured the attention of listeners across the globe.
Hailing from South London, Midas entered the scene in an unmatched, unrivalled fashion earlier this year. It’s impossible to talk about her without mentioning her debut viral Triller hit ‘Come We Bill Ehh’, arguably the biggest anthem this summer, which went on to hit top 5 in the new Official Afrobeats Chart and racked up over 9 million combined plays. Following that with another home run, ‘Party With A Jagaban’ caused an even bigger wave receiving over 3.7million tags and counting on TikTok.
From a young age, she has used music to escape and now her signature balaclava allows her to tell her story anonymously. Who is the artist behind it? For the moment this remains unknown. Working with a handful of sought after producers such as Guilty Beats (Ms Banks), AOD (PA Salieu), AJ Productions (D Block Europe), Rexxie (Naira Marley), the seven-track EP spans just over twenty minutes. With guest appearances from East-London rapper Ramz and South African rapper Sho Madjozi, Midas’ contagious energy does not drop throughout. Although the tracks are fit for the clubs she covers unexpected topics of hopes, dreams, deceit, and more.
Inspired by the likes of Rema and Koffee and with early co-signs from NSG, Naira Marley & Ms Banks, Midas is on the way to building her own thriving community and cementing her position within the competitive UK Afrobeats landscape. Leading the way for her generation and based on her success this year, Midas will undoubtedly be the one to watch out for next year.
