Following the release of YOU DON’T WANNA, Birmingham, UK based emcee TrueMendous recently revealed the sublime full-length version of her track Y, featuring fellow Birmingham based Kofi Stone

With only two weeks until the release of her debut album, ‘Misdiagnosis of Chyvonne Johnson’ TrueMendous gifts fans with new single ‘Y’ in its entirety, after giving them a sneak peek at the end of the ‘You Don’t Wanna’ video last week. Revealing a colossal collaboration the Birmingham native teams up with fellow Brummie Kofi Stone, who provides a slick verse over the jazz-influenced Illinformed instrumental.

Her impressive dexterity as a rapper is not only distinguished through her lyrical content, but also her ability to seamlessly rap over a multitude of different sounds. ‘You Don’t Wanna’ showcases powerful articulation and control, similar to her 2021 debut ‘Cause A Scene’. However, she is also able to demonstrate a soulful conscious rapping style seen in ‘Worst Child’.

Following on from the soulful and more rhythmic method of rapping TrueMendous surprises fans with a sneak peek of ‘Y’, which is teased at the end of the ‘You Don’t Wanna’ music video. The juxtaposition between both tracks exemplifies TrueMendous as an artist and her eclectic sound. Taken straight off the forthcoming album, ‘Y’ steers away from the fast-paced levels of ‘You Don’t Wanna’ and sways towards a stripped-back sound. Oozing with saxophone riffs, the slow pace is also reflected in the captivating visuals.

Released via High Focus Records her 17-track upcoming album ‘Misdiagnosis Of Chyvonne Johnson’ follows off the back of her successful debut project ‘HUH?’, released back in 2020. She also delivered music videos for ‘Out My Face’, ‘Sweetheart’, ‘O.T.Y.L (Part 2)’, and ‘That Don’t Mean’, which is collectively sitting on over 190.000 views. Two tracks taken off the project made it onto the FIFA 21 Soundtrack and the ‘COLD.RDY’ campaign by Adidas.
