Neath, Wales-based emcee/singer/songwriter, Luke RV releases his new track/visual LONG TERM PARKING

Directed by Kiddus, the creatively cut video for ‘LONG TERM PARKING‘ gives a glimpse of Luke in his natural habitat surrounded by friends and family. Luke’s signature fusion of introspective lyrics, and melodic guitar riffs, led by his ethereal vocal tone. A concept stemming from the idea of not letting his life become stagnant, the track title is also a subtle nod to the cult classic, The Sopranos, in particular the episode where Adrianna dies. Last month’s live performance alongside rising rapper, Bawo followed the collaboration with East London’s KeepVibesNear on their single, ‘Late Night Link’, premiering on Complex, both setting the tone for Luke and confirming he’s here to stay.

“The video portrays the feeling of ‘going through the motions. I wanted the lyrics to convey a battle, more of a constant conversation in my head, and the video to also represent these lingering thoughts”.

Luke’s mission of breaking into the burgeoning alternative Hip Hop scene dates back to 2017. Born and raised in South Wales, specifically the valleys of Neath, the obstacle of bridging the gap between Wales and London contributed to the feeling of isolation and in some ways held him back over the years. Solely focused on fulfilling his purpose as a musician, inner conflict from people in his life has only fuelled Luke to continue pursuing what he had already started.

His meditative voice and production hones in on relatable issues, allowing him to connect with his fanbase and create his own unique style of melancholic Hip Hop. Having cemented his name in the Welsh music scene, in 2020 he was shortlisted for Welsh Music Price Awards which he narrowly missed out on to Deyah. Luke’s plans to expand on a national scale are underway; he has so far garnered the attention of BBC 1Xtra’s DJ Target and Huw Stephens, Reprezent, Rinse FM, and many more.

As he continues to flourish and generate a fanbase beyond his native, Luke’s musical journey is progressing at a rapid rate. Taking each release in his stride, the summer is due to be full of lots of activity including shows at BOXPARK SHOREDITCH and Boomtown Festival, much to the delight of his ever-evolving audience.
