The Bronx, New York-based emcee High Nelson drops the visual to his track YOUNG BLOOD, produced by Cape Town-based Mofu Beatz

High Nelson continues his prodigious rise in 2022 with his latest infectious release ‘Young Blood’. With his first release of the year ‘Sunday’, the up-and-comer showed us what he’s made of, now with his latest drop, he’s proving that he’s here to stay.

Talking about his influences, in his own words, Nelson explains

“My upbringing plays a part in the constant push and pull between right and wrong. There are many contradictions in the way I was raised by my family and the way I learned to survive outside of my household in the Bronx; these concepts live within my music”.

Being raised in the Bronx no doubt influenced High Nelson’s sound. His New York State of Mind combined with rich Caribbean roots have organically fused together to create a perfect mesh of raw and authentic rap style, with a touch of easy-going swagger.

‘Young Blood’ shows High Nelson in his element, rapping effortlessly over an eclectic and beautifully produced instrumental. The artist provides a fresh viewpoint, rapping responsible bars and giving advice to younger rappers about the importance of getting their priorities straight, and not blowing their hard-earned cash in the club or on jewelry.

“Music is my therapist, my musical journal. Previously discarded thoughts become soundtracks to my life, utilising life’s positive and negative experiences along with the emotions they evoke”.

With ‘Young Blood’’ being the first major release from High Nelson, the exciting follow-up to his impressive ‘Sunday’ provides yet another impressive example of High Nelson’s talent. With a further slew of upcoming videos, as well as a full project on the horizon, Nelson is showing clear signs that he’s more than ready to take over this year.
