Swedish producer duo PAPA Sound teams up with Sweden-based Rholin X to drop SELFISH A dancehall rap joint, that will surely add to the heat of the Summer and all of its festivities!
So, start up the summer season by vibing along with PAPA Sound and Rholin X’s, to their new song ‘Selfish‘! The track, recorded on a sunny day during one of PAPA Sound’s song camps last year, pretty much made itself!
Much thanks to the highly talented Patwa rapper Rholin X, who about 20 years ago left sunny Jamaica and its lively dancehall community, for a cold and dark Sweden when he met love and decided to follow the path that landed him in the small city of Karlstad (where he now resides), after a tour he accompanied Dancehall legend Sean Paul on.
Rholin X is a natural talent who, like greats such as Jay-Z, has a knack for freestyling lines without much thought. But despite his quick wit, since he arrived in Sweden, he has mostly been hidden away, like a sleeper agent. Apart from a few releases over the years with a handful of different Swedish artists and producers, he has largely remained in the shadows of Swedish society, where, as is well known, it is often difficult to establish stable enough roots to grow and develop enough to manifest one’s dreams. Therefore, it is an honor to see this man again step in front of the mic and hear him do what he does best. We are excited to present this collaboration to the world and hope to hear much more of his unique dancehall rap, as it is high time for the dancehall community to raise their eyebrows, for this talented man!
PAPA Sound is a Swedish producer duo focused on creating bass-driven, dancehall, afrobeat, and reggae tunes. Founded by Patrik Arve and Paolo Albo, PAPA Sound became a duo in the year 2020. The name PAPA comes from their given names initials Paolo Albo and Patrik Arve. In their songs, they vent the issues and passions they have in common, from social injustice or environmental issues to just their love for music.
“Usually we are looking for the spark in the gap between different genres. For us, 90% of good music is all about the attitude. It’s more important than your actual “skill”. Hence our love for punk, hip-hop, and reggae. We are baking outernational musical biscuits full of bass and riddim. The vocals are, at this point, made by guests from Jamaica or Africa and are considered the icing on the cake”.
