DEFRON INVALID

Defron – Invalid (Music Video)

Australian rapper Defron’s first film-clip from his debut EP is now available. ‘Invalid’ is the first single and the title-track from Australian rapper and poet Defron, taken from his debut EP due for release next month.

The song is produced by friend and New York based producer Bottega Beretta and features cuts from Perth based producer and DJ, Rob Shaker.

Defron calls the single:

“A parody and a battle-cry, satirising the braggadocio formula of boom-bap bangers whilst simultaneously celebrating them”.

After leaving his career in the publishing industry and Australia’s battle-rap circuit in 2012, revered freestyle rapper and 2009 Revolver MC Battle champion, Defron, took a hiatus from his regular Melbourne live-shows to record his long-anticipated debut EP. Inspired by a personal history of battling cancer and hearing-loss, drawing from his braggadocio roots in Melbourne’s freestyle and battle-rap scene, the title Invalid is a spin on the Hip Hop bravado cliché.

Shot and edited by Steven Maclean, the video for the EP title-track sees Defron unleashed in the industrial side of Yarraville, Victoria where he runs rampant through abandoned paint mills and dilapidated warehouses, whilst his lyrics and references are brought to life on the screen via custom animation from Melbourne illustrator, Joshua Trotter. The film clip is now live on YouTube and the song is available for free download on Soundcloud and Bandcamp.
