Podgy Figures + Bonkaz – Mad Ting (Prod. by Dot Rotten/Music Video)

Podgy Figures is joined by UK legends Bonkaz, Ghetts, Angel and Zeph Ellis (Dot Rotten), as he gears up for the release of his hard-hitting debut EP, GINGERBREAD SEASON, the project follows his Complex-approved single, MAD TING, featuring a cold verse by Bonkaz and bold Ellis production

Following his acclaimed singles ‘Wrap Up The Ting’ and ‘Hardest’, West-London rapper Podgy Figures is back with his latest rave-ready track ‘Mad Ting’ featuring New Gen affiliate Bonkaz.

Teaming up once again with the legendary producer Zeph Ellis, formally known as Dot Rotten, the track kicks off with a minimally ominous synth line before ramping up the energy with an infectious new-age grime bassline and relentless drums. Without hesitation, Bonkaz comes straight in and wastes no time in riding the beat with his rapid flow and trademark wordplay,

“Cognac, whiskey, rum and vodka, still they’re nothing like my spirit”.

Podgy’s instantly recognisable, gritty vocals are introduced on the infectious hook before showcasing his jovial, cheeky bars and unrelenting delivery.

The accompanying video, set in a London estate was directed by Jay Parpworth an up-and-coming film maker whose past credits include ‘German Whip’ by Meridian Dan, MTV, SBTV and T-Pain. A shot in front of a graffiti covered wall that reads,

“If you ain’t from round here…bounce”,

feels rather poignant, as Podgy aims to expose and rid the game of fake MC’s and cement himself as one of the top contenders.

From setting up his own radio station Podgy FM 91.5, to releasing his own fashion line Gingerbread Clothing, the Acton-based MC has overcome a poverty stricken childhood, to be where he is today; this emotional honesty is evident throughout his music as Podgy explains,

“The track is repletion of truth, during a time of lies and dishonesty. It will be the soundtrack of the year for those that understand the graft of making something out of nothing”.

It’s this truthfulness that has resonated with fans and industry professionals alike and has won his esteemed support from the likes of Clash, The 405, GRM Daily and SBTV. ‘Mad Ting’ is part of Podgy Figure’s forthcoming Zeph Ellis produced EP ‘Gingerbread Season’ that boasts an impressive list of features including Ghetts and Angel.

‘Mad Ting’ is a statement of intent for Podgy Figures. The integrity is evident in his music and is done so in such a way that will be sure to cause a stir in the grime scene this summer.
