Urban Vault Interviews - ECHO

Urban Vault Interviews – ECHO

Urban Vault caught up with Los Angeles based, Dominican emcee ECHO to ask him some question about his latest mixtape series & more…

ECHO is a Dominican emcee that incarnated in New York City and migrated to Los Angeles several years ago. He has visions for what a better world looks like, and he plants these visions into his music so that he can reach billions of people on Earth, which will hopefully help change the world as we all know it, for the better, forever. He’s a budding theoretical physicist, philosopher, ‘conspiracy theorist’, activist, and spiritualist that incorporates everything he’s ever learned and/or channeled about our world, into his music.

He feels it’s his mission/duty to help ‘awaken’ as many people as possible to what our true reality is, even if they don’t think they’re asleep or don’t care to be awakened and to always question everything… even the innocuous. He is always sharing everything he’s gone through and has learned via his own personal website, his Twitter and Instagram account, his songs, published books, blogs, music videos, V-logs, etc. Join the movement.

What is your name?

Echo…

Where are you from?

Washington Heights, NYC, but I currently reside in Los Angeles.

How long have you been making music?

Since 2003.

How many tracks/albums have you released to date?

2 albums, 4 mixtapes, and over 10 singles.

Can you tell us about your new mixtape series, the background, and inspirations behind it?

I’m in the midst of a 6 mixtape in 6 months run, each tape with one producer except for the first one. I saw Flee Lord an artist I respect and see as a peer in the underground was/is on a 10/10 tape run and I said let me stretch myself like that.

How have you ended up in the music industry?

I have many supporters and believers in my music but more so my ideology since I rap about things like futurism, 3D printing, resource-based economies, etc.

What do you think of the music industry in 2020?

As far as mainstream rap it’s garbage and a minstrel show with few exceptions but the underground which is what I’m part of is going through a beautiful renaissance of lyricism, artistry, creativity, brotherhood, and freshness.

What have you got planned for the rest of 2020?

I’m closing the year with 4 mixtapes done between September – December then 2 more mixtapes for January and February with music videos for each tape and we’ll see what happens.

What inspires you when you make your music?

The state of the world, my place and my family & daughter’s place in it. I consider myself a channeler and visionary that has seen what a possible future here could be if an awakening occurs which I’m trying to help bring about.

Who would you like to collaborate with in the future?

Artists like Estee Nack, divino, Rome Streetz, Flee Lord, ETO, Daniel Son, Griselda, Raz Fresco, etc., etc.

What’s your favorite track at the moment?

Right now it’s my own music. I’m in a box when I’m writing and recording. I still turn on all new drops for 5 minutes. I fuck with Stove God and Ransom right now.

What do you do when you’re not making music?

I have two jobs and a family including my 6-year-old daughter so between work, family, and my music I’m booked lol.

Which do you prefer, Facebook or Twitter or Instagram?

Instagram because of the visual aspect.

In a few words sum up your thoughts about Urban Vault and what we’re trying to do?

I love that you provide a platform for artists to have their music highlighted especially in my case since you guys are across the pond. I hope it helps me build my fanbase.

Thank you for your time and may you carry on making dope, fresh music…
