Urban Vault Interviews – Kaz Money

Urban Vault caught up with Sweden-based emcee Kaz Money to ask him some questions about his recent releases including JOHN WICK, featuring fellow Swedish rap duo Clint Hoffa & Lycouz, & more…

For those that may not have heard of Kaz Money, he is better known as one-third of the Dubai-based pioneers The Recipe and has worked with the likes of Kool Savas, Talib Kweli, Mobb Deep, and Spark Master Tape. Kaz is known as a Rap pioneer in his native Dubai and is well known for his humorous and intricate energetic Rap style.

What is your name?

My name is Eddie Kasparian but my friends call me Kaz Money.

Where are you from?
This is always a hard question to answer without writing a novel but here is the short version. I am Italian/Armenian/Syrian/Eritrean and live in Sweden.

Tell us about the Hip Hop scene in Dubai and your former group The Recipe?

I am still part of The Recipe and we recently released a single called OPS. We have a lot of new music in the pipe as well so stay tuned for that. As for the Hip Hop scene in Dubai, it’s growing daily and we have a few breakout artists that are popping off at the moment. When The Recipe came up we were the trailblazers on all fronts, now the scene is getting stronger by the minute.

You moved to Sweden how is the scene in Scandinavia?

Despite having a long history and some successful artists, the scene here seems to be very niche and still very underground. There seems to be two camps, those that rap in English and those that rap in Swedish. I hear a lot of local acts on the radio now so I think it’s another growing scene.

Recently you released your single ‘Bu Zelda’ followed by a video with Swedens Clint Hoffa and Lycouz entitled ‘John Wick’. Give us some details on these releases?

Bu Zelda is my ‘Comeback’ single of sorts since for the past few years i have only focused on The Recipe and some old music from the Vaults. Bu Zelda is a track to remind folks that i am still around and help people slap their neighbors. John Wick is the next single we are about to drop with a video which will literally have people blown away. It’s a dope track too with two talented Swedish emcees i’ve connected with on several joints so far. More to come.

Any further plans for 2021, What can fans expect?

I am committed to releasing at least one single a month, possibly two, a few music videos, and a series of free one minute joints called ‘Freebies on Free Beats’ with videos on social media which I release through my Instagram account.

What inspires you when you make your music?

Life, the daily struggles, the love for music, and the need to get these words out of my head before they drive me mad.

What do you do when your not making music?

Take care of my daughter and eat.

Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter?

Instagram…..Facebook is for old folks now and Twitter gives me ADHD.

In a few words sum up your thoughts about Urban Vault and what we’re trying to do?

I always have love and respect for platforms bringing attention to up-and-coming artists so mad love to ya’ll.

Thank you for your time and may you carry on making dope, fresh music…
